2522年、地球は死にかけている。完成してからまだ300年しか経過していない人工オゾン層の破壊が急速に進行しているのだ。太陽は地球に灼熱の炎を浴びせている。水もなくなっている。水がなければ何も生き延びることはできない。木々が、草花が、動物が死に絶え、人類も死に絶える…。月の地下にあるコロニーでは人々がニュースを待っている―地球からのニュースを。地球を回る軌道上の宇宙船ではある若者がコンピュータのモニタ上の数字を見つめている。その数字から状況を読み取った若者は怯える。地球が燃えている…。
